Green Planet Expeditions does everything we can to insure our programs have as little impact on the environment as possible, and this includes constantly looking for ways to reduce our carbon footprint on the planet. We take care of doing what we can on the tour itself, but there is more that you the traveler can do to make a big difference as well. Working with Sustainable Travel International, we have developed a carbon calculator to evaluate the carbon footprint your journey to your destination creates (most of the green house gas emissions are from burning fossil fuels for your transportation). Once the amount is calculated, you will be able to make an inexpensive (and tax deductible) contribution to Sustainable Travel International. STI will then invest the money to offset the green house gasses your travel introduces into the environment for things like the development of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects in Africa or reforestation projects in Asia.
